(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist after a male failed to surface while swimming in the Crowe River this morning at approximately 11:45am.
A male was in the river with a friend when he went in to distress and slipped under the water. The male was located by bystanders and CPR was initiated.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation and the identification of the deceased will not be released until the next of kin are notified.
