Belleville firefighters responded to a vehicle fire in a parking lot on Highway 62 Friday afternoon.
Fire prevention officers say that shortly before 4:30 p.m. a vehicle lost power while making a turn and there was visible fire in the front left wheel well.
According to a release, a bystander was able to use two portable extinguishers to keep the fire at bay until firefighters arrived.
According to fire prevention, the fire started in the engine and moved quickly into the passenger compartment and the vehicle was written off.
There were no reported injuries to the passenger or firefighters and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
