Catalytic converters remain a popular target for thieves in the Quinte region and elsewhere.
Wednesday morning around 8:30, Belleville police were called to an east end apartment complex after a vehicle had been damaged by someone who had made an unsuccessful attempt to steal its catalytic converter.
In other police news, an elderly man mistakenly backed his vehicle right into the Bay of Quinte at the Herchimer Avenue boat launch just before noon Wednesday. People nearby helped him and the vehicle was towed away. There were no injuries.
And around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to Belleville General Hospital to deal with a man being aggressive with staff there. The 24-year-old was arrested and then caused damage to a police cruiser and holding cell.
He appears in court Thursday.
