The Quinte West OPP is investigating a fatal collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.
On May 6, 2021, at approximately 4:35 p.m., Quinte West OPP were dispatched to the intersection of King Street and Dufferin Avenue in Trenton where it was reported a youth on a scooter was struck by a vehicle.
A 14-year-old male was transported to hospital by paramedics in critical, life threatening condition and was later pronounced deceased.
Friday morning OPP released the name of the victim, 14-year-old Christopher Bishop of Quinte West.
The OPP Technical Collision Investigation and Reconstruction teams investigated the scene. Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
FLAGS AT HALF-MAST
Flags at City Hall in Quinte West will be lowered to half-mast until Monday morning in memory of the teen.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says, “Our community is saddened to learn of the accidental death of a young boy yesterday. He was enjoying a sunny spring day, and so he should. Life is so precious. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. We also thank the first responders and all involved. Please take care of each other.”
