Bail violations
On May 5, 2021 at 3:55 p.m., police were called to an east end home where a woman was believed to be breaching previous conditions of a release order. The resulting investigation led to the arrest of 25-year-old city resident Lexington Avalon Charity Samuel. She was charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. Samuel was released from police custody with conditions, and is expected to appear in Belleville’s Ontario Court of Justice on June 10, 2021.
On May 5, 2021 at 8:57 p.m., police were called to a possible overdose of a man in the area of Pinnacle Street and Station Street. EMS was called to the location, and the man was transported to Belleville Hospital for further treatment. Once released from hospital care, the man, a 41-year-old city resident was arrested and charged with one count of breaching an undertaking. His name is not being released at this time as he has been held in custody pending a show cause hearing on May 6, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice.
Traffic stop leads to many charges
On May 5, 2021 at 9:03 p.m., police initiated a traffic stop in the area of Highway 2 and Old Kingston Road. A man driving a motor vehicle was clocked on radar by an officer during her patrol. The man was stopped for speeding. He was charged with this, and for not being properly accompanied by a fully licenced driver. Further investigation demonstrated the man to have been out of custody on a judicial interim release order with conditions. Contrary to the conditions of this order, the man was in breach of a curfew condition, two non-communication conditions, and he was also in possession of a prohibited weapon (brass knuckles). The 31-year-old man from Brighton, was arrested and is being held for a show cause hearing scheduled for May 6, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice.
