The Belleville Council table is full again after Carol Feeney was officially sworn in on Tuesday afternoon.
The swearing-in ceremony was pared down and adhered to COVID-19 restrictions, with Councillor Feeney, Mayor Mitch Panciuk, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Rod Bovay, City Clerk Matt MacDonald and Councillor Feeney’s mother Anna and her brother Stephen, all present.
Feeney is replacing Ryan Williams, who resigned a few weeks ago and was the eighth-highest vote-getter in the 2018 municipal election.
She currently sits on both the Transit Operations Advisory Committee and the Belleville Library Board and was also the executive director of the Quinte Arts Council for 15 years.
In a statement, the Belleville native says she’s “pleased to have this opportunity to serve” and that she hopes to “encourage young women from all aspects of life to seek involvement in our community.”
Feeney will take part in her first council meeting on April 26.
