Lots of discussion, but in the end, Quinte West Council voted in favour of their 2009 budget, as presented by their treasurer.
The budget will effect homeowners in Quinte West this way…in Trenton, municipal taxes on an average house will go up 1.66 percent, in Sidney ward, they’ll go up 2.48 percent, in Frankford, 1.8 percent. And, after discussion, council voted to send an extrap 100 thousand dollars from reserve funds to Murray ward, thereby bringing their tax increase there from 5.15 percent down to 3.9 percent.
Under the budget, garbage bag tag fees will go up 50 cents, and parking meters will cost 50 cents an hour, up from 20 cents.
