Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting nine new cases of COVID-19 for the second day in a row as local cases continue to grow.
Wednesday saw one new case, Thursday four, Friday five and now nine cases on back-to-back days.
HPE public health is also reporting three new recoveries for a total of 30 active cases. Ten variant of concern, or VOC, cases have been identified in the area to date.
Three of the new cases are in Centre Hastings, three in Belleville, two in Quinte West and one in Prince Edward County. Of the nine new cases, the causes of six are listed as close contact and the remaining three are listed as pending.
The seven day case rate per 100,000 people has ballooned to 14.8.
There is some good news as the Hastings Prince Edward area is nearing 25,000 vaccine doses administered. According to HPE public health’s COVID-19 dashboard, 24,932 doses have been administered and 1,915 people are considered fully vaccinated.
There are also still no cases hospitalized in the area.
