While many events in 2021 are being cancelled again or going virtual due to the pandemic, organizers of Brighton’s Applefest are in the early stages of planning a live event for this fall.
It was cancelled last year due to COVID-19.
Brighton’s Manager of Economic Development and Communications Ben Hagerman says the Applefest committee met and decided it was important to make an effort to hold an in-person event while still complying with any restrictions.
“Now in saying that, I guess we’ve got to look at planning time and lead time. So, if we’re following some sort of number that we have to adhere to we will start planning for that as early as possible to ensure the safety of everyone.”
Hagerman says the committee will meet again in a few weeks to consider the next steps.
“And even if we’re in masks still, and even we gotta distance from each and even if we’re sanitizing like crazy, it’s still that in-person interaction that we’ve all missed for a year now. And I think if we can have something in-person, it’s just going to uplift the spirits of everyone.”
The festival would be held in late September.
