Quinte West OPP arrested a transport driver Monday night on multiple charges including impaired driving.
Around 11:45 p.m., police responded to several reports of a transport truck driving erratically on Highway 401 west near County Road 40.
Police located the truck but the driver failed to pull over so police used a rolling stop technique to bring the transport to a full stop.
The driver was arrested for impaired operation.
Officers searched the vehicle and seized a quantity of alcohol and suspected cannabis.
Sarbjit CHAMBAL, 65 years old of Brampton has been charged with the following offences:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
- Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
- Have care or control of a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
- Fail to maintain daily log
- Fail to accurately complete daily inspection report
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 15, 2021.
Additionally, their licence was suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.
