The Belleville Police Service responded to 51 calls from March 21, 2021 at 5 a.m. to March 22, 2021 at 5 a.m.
Shoplifting charge
On March 21, 2021 at 2 p.m., Belleville police attended the Canadian Tire store on Bell Boulevard regarding a theft complaint. Officers were advised that a male was observed leaving the store without paying for a number of items. As a result of the investigation 58-year-old Robert Rowe of Belleville was charged with theft and failing to comply with a release order. He was released with an April 8 court date.
Suspended driver
On March 21, 2021 at 6:30 p.m., a Belleville police officer on patrol stopped a vehicle on Baldwin Street. The driver of the vehicle was determined to be a suspended driver. As result the 43-year-old Corbyville resident was charged with driving while suspended and given an April 12 court date.
Collison leads to multiple charges
On March 21, 2021 at 9 p.m., Belleville police were called to the area of Cannifton Road and College Street for a motor vehicle collision. Attending officers learned that one of the vehicles on scene had two people trapped inside and the other involved vehicle had left the scene after the collision. Officers located the second vehicle unoccupied in the area of highway 2 East, 15 minutes later. The driver was eventually located in the east hill area of Belleville and arrested. As result of the investigation 33-year-old Daniel Hagerman of Belleville is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation while impaired, operation with over 80mg of alcohol and failing to stop at the scene of an accident. Hagerman was released with an April 8 court date. No serious injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
