OPP have arrested a person in connection with the early morning stabbing of an OPP officer.
At approximately 1 a.m. Sunday a Quinte West OPP officer initiated a traffic stop on Highway 14 just west of Highway 62.
According to police the officer’s vehicle was hit by the other vehicle and an officer was stabbed in an ensuing altercation.
Around 4:30 a.m. OPP put out an emergency alert to cell phones and social media concerning an armed and dangerous individual in Hastings County and put in place a shelter in place order.
Police confirmed shortly after 9 a.m. that a suspect had been arrested and that the shelter in place order is over.
The officer was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
