Guns and drugs were seized after an eventful traffic stop for Lennox and Addington OPP on March 5.
Around 1 p.m. OPP saw a vehicle weaving between lanes on the 401 east in Greater Napanee and made a traffic stop.
Police began searching the vehicle and found cannabis. While police were searching one passenger fled on foot only to be caught quickly.
Once the passenger was caught, police continued searching the vehicle and found a variety of items including nearly 400 grams of suspected cocaine, bags of marijuana, two loaded restricted firearms, a suppressor, a Balaclava and gloves, high capacity magazines, multiple cell phones, over $28,000 in Canadian currency and drug paraphernalia.
Police arrested and charged 34-year-old Ralph Augustine of Pierrerfonds, Quebec, 20-year-old Hunter Devaney and 27-year-old Jason Jeanotte-Taylor, both of Montreal.
All three were charged with:
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of a schedule 1 substance
- Possession of over 30g dried cannabis in a public place
- Five counts of occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
- Four counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Two counts of possession of loaded restricted firearm
- 6 Counts of careless storage of firearm or ammunition
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
- Five counts of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
- Participation in criminal organization
Devaney was additionally charged with:
- Two counts of Obstruct or resist police
Augustine was additionally charged with:
- Possession of a forged document
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
- Nine counts of failure to comply with release order
All three were held for a bail hearing and appeared in the Greater Napanee Court of Justice at a later date.
