Monday was Belleville Fire Chief Mark MacDonald’s last day on the job.
MacDonald announced late last year he would be retiring.
Deputy Fire Chief Don Corbett will take over as Acting Fire Chief while the recruitment process for a new chief is completed.
Prior to joining the Belleville Fire and Emergency Management team as Deputy Fire Chief in July 2017, Corbett was the Deputy Fire Chief of Operations for the City of Kingston.
Belleville CAO Rod Bovay said, “Chief MacDonald will be greatly missed and we wish him the very best in his retirement but we are pleased that Don has agreed to assume this role during this interim period.”
