The Hastings County Long Term Care Committee has set a budget of $33.8 million with a net cost of $6.7 million after revenue.
At the committee’s virtual meeting on Wednesday, Director of Long Term Care Debbie Rollins said she was optimistic there would be increases in funding for Long Term Care announced in April .
“I think COVID put long term care in the front of troubles we’ve been having for a lot of years, so hopefully we will see some positive support.”
When asked about whether or not new residents must be vaccinated for COVID before entering the homes, Rollins replied, “Less than five have declined … we request that
anybody new coming be in touch with pubic health. It’s not mandatory to vaccinate. We do our best to encourage and get people to take it.”
The 2021 budget shows the current formula for care in the homes is 2.8 hours in Hastings Manor and 2.9 hours in Centennial in Bancroft.
