Two separate traffic stops resulted in arrests on the weekend in Prince Edward County.
Just before 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, police conducted a traffic stop on County Road 4 in Sophisburgh Ward where discussion with the occupants led to the arrest of the passenger on an outstanding warrant.
Forty-seven-year-old Terry Allan of Cramahe Township was charged with three counts of Theft under $5000 – shoplifting and Failure to comply with undertaking.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 18.
Just after 8:30 p.m. on Sunday night, OPP stopped a vehicle on London Avenue in Picton.
The driver left the scene on foot but was arrested nearby.
Police learned the vehicle had been stolen.
Thirty-three-year-old Ainsley Murdoch of Prince Edward County is charged with Operation While Impaired, Failure to comply with demand and Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
The driver was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on April 7.
The driver was also given a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and the vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
