A Brighton individual is facing charges after being discovered asleep at the wheel.
Thursday night around 9:40 p.m., Northumberland OPP received calls about a silver coloured four-door sedan that was parked in the live lane on Durham Street North in the town of Colborne.
The vehicle was locked and not running with an individual who appeared to be asleep sitting behind the steering wheel.
Officers arrested the driver for impaired operation then transported them to Cobourg Police Service where a Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE) was completed.
Thirty-nine-year-old Adam Bell is charged with Operation while impaired – drugs and Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration
The accused is scheduled to appear in Cobourg court in April.
Northumberland Provincial Police say they continue to rely on members of the public to report suspected impaired drivers and that many of these drivers are caught because of concerned citizens being conscious of irregular or erratic driving behaviours that continue to put other motorists at risk.
