A local Member of Parliament will see a piece of legislation he brought to the floor of the House of Commons make it to a parliamentary committee for further study.
Northumberland-Peterborough South riding Conservative MP Philip Lawrence saw his bill, C-206 pass second reading in the House yesterday by a vote 177 to 145.
If finally passed, C-206 would exempt farmers from paying the carbon tax on natural gas and propane.
Lawrence’s bill passed with support from NDP and Bloc Quebecois members.
Liberals voted against.
