Mischief to property
On February 22, 2021 at 8:00 a.m., police received a report of a boat being entered at a local Marina. The incident was reported to have occurred between 7 p.m. on February 21 and 9 a.m. on February 22. Unknown suspect(s) entered a boat at the location causing minor damage to the interior. Police believe this may be related to an earlier incident at the same location two days prior. An investigation into both matters is continuing, as police have video surveillance to assist in identifying the suspects. On February 22, 2021 at 11:24 a.m., police were called to a church on Elmwood Drive for a report of a damaged window. An investigation revealed that between February 19 and February 22, unknown suspect(s) smashed a window on the exterior of the building. No other damage was reported. Fraud
On February 22, 2021 at 1:15 p.m., police were called to a gas bar on the west side of the city for a report of numerous fraudulent transactions with a credit card. The cardholder advised police that while receiving gasoline, she became aware that her credit card had become compromised and that unknown person(s) had used it twenty different times throughout the day at different locations within the area. The investigation is continuing, and police are asking anyone with any information about this to contact investigating officer Cst. Police officer assaulted
On February 22, 2021 at 11:33 p.m., police were called to an east end home for an unwanted person. During the investigation and attempts to resolve an issue, a 16-year-old female became combative with police. She was arrested, and during the arrest, spat at the investigating officer. The young person, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was taken into custody and transported to the Belleville Police Service. She was processed and later released on an undertaking to attend the Youth Court at a later date on a charge of assaulting a peace officer.
Two arrested for breaching the peace
Police arrested one city female and a city male during the previous 24 hours at separate locations on Bridge Street East, both for breaching the peace. On February 22 at 4:26 p.m., police were called to the first disturbance. A 28-year-old female was arrested, taken into custody, and lodged into a cell. On February 23 at 12:58 a.m., police were called to another Bridge Street East residence for a report of a male acting out. The 25-year-old was arrested, taken into custody, and lodged to a cell. Both parties were released once deemed not to be a danger to themselves or others.
