Hastings and Prince Edward residents with addiction and mental health issues will soon be getting more assistance.
The province has allocated $100,000 to Hastings County related to these issues.
The money will be used, in partnership with Addictions and Mental Health Services Hastings and Prince Edward, to hire an additional mental health counsellor.
This staff person will help address counselling wait lists during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Eligible uses of the funding include hiring mental health/addictions workers, harm reduction supports, crisis intervention and prevention activities, and the purchase of technology.
The staff person will assist individuals and their families by providing no-cost supports and services to those who are affected by severe and persistent mental illness and/or problematic substance use.
The program will help in finding and maintaining housing for clients who were previously managing but are experiencing a decline in their overall condition as a result of the pandemic.
Funds will cover wages, supplies, equipment, travel, Personal Protective Equipment, and administration costs for a one-year period.
