There were indications yesterday the Ontario government might have a resolution in place to pave the way for the Belleville Senators to play home games this year. However that decision will have to wait for a few days while health protocols are addressed.
In the meantime, the B-Sens will open the AHL season tomorrow night (Friday) with the first of four straight games against the Laval Rocket at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
Coach Troy Mann says after an 11 month layoff, everyone is anxious to get back at it.
The issue of where the B-Sens will play home games has not been resolved. Mann says they want to play in Belleville however they might have to play at least some, if not all, games in Ottawa this season only.
Belleville has signed two junior players ahead of their AHL season opener tomorrow night.
Goaltender Cedrick Andree and defenseman Robert Calisti have signed amateur tryouts. Andree joins the Senators after spending three seasons with the Ottawa 67s, while Calisti has spent two full seasons with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

Calisti is coming off a career year in the OHL where he put up 18 goals and 32 assists in 64 games played for the Greyhounds.
It’s unknown if either will play this weekend when the Senators take on the Laval Rocket at Montreal’s Bell Centre tomorrow and Saturday afternoon.
