Skiers and snowboarders in the area will finally be able to hit the slopes at Batawa Ski Hill starting on Friday.
General Manager Brian Diedenhofen says they were caught off guard by the original forced closure and are excited to welcome skiers and snowboarders back to the hill.
“Most of our products and services are available from outside, we’re minimizing inside the building, doing our best to minimize line ups. We’ve got social distancing and mandatory mask use in place. There are guidelines on how we operate our lifts. We’re fully compliant and prepared.”
He says the hill is adjusting its procedures to have pre-registration, four-hour time blocks for use with limitedcapacity and ID checks to make sure people aren’t travelling from higher-risk areas to use the facilities, which will allow everyone to enjoy their time on the hill safely.
“By doing that we’re able to control how many people are here at any given time, we have a maximum capacity per time block of 350 people. We’re also maintaining clear contact tracing, so if there was to be any sort of a breakout, we can give a complete list to the health unit right away.”
Diedenhofen added that Snow School programs are still operating with smaller groups, or individual lessons, as well.
