There is good news for Hastings Prince Edward.
The low number of COVID-19 cases in Hastings Prince Edward means it will be one of the first regions in the province to reopen.
The province has announced that the stay-at-home order will be lifted for three health units, including Hastings Prince Edward Public Health on Wednesday.
Kingston, Frontenac and Lennox & Addington Public Health and Renfrew County and District Health Unit are the other two regions that will move back to the framework at the Green-Prevent level.
Premier Doug Ford says the state of emergency declared last month will be allowed to expire as scheduled on Tuesday but the stay-at-home order will remain in effect in all other regions as the province gradually transitions back to the government’s colour-coded restrictions system over the next three weeks.
The province is changing some rules for those areas still in lockdown.
Non-essential retailers in the grey zones will be allowed to open their doors with a 25 per cent capacity limit.
The government will also introduce an “emergency brake” that allows the province to immediately move a region into lockdown if cases spike.
