Parking fees in Quinte West will be waived for the duration of the provincial lockdown.
At its meeting Monday, Quinte West council extended the waiving of parking fees that was originally approved on January 11 until January 23 which was the original end date for the lockdown.
With the extension of the provincial lockdown until February 11, councillors elected to extend it until the end of the lockdown instead of putting a date on it at the risk of the lockdown being extended again.
Quinte West council waived fees during the first COVID-19-related lockdown in the spring and summer of 2020.
According to the report, waiving the parking fees means the city will forgo approximately $9,000 in revenue per month.
