Sunday gun hunting is back in front of Brighton council.
At its virtual meeting tonight council will see a staff recommendation that the public be given
60 days to comment on these changes.
One would be that Sunday gun hunting be allowed in Brighton.
The other is that no shooting be allowed within 200 metres of land zoned as shoreline residential in the municipality’s Official Plan.
The Presquile Point Property Owners Association had asked for a 300 metre setback.
Sunday gun hunting has been discussed by various Brighton councils since 2005 but has never been allowed. It is the only municipality in Eastern Ontario that does not allow Sunday gun hunting.
