The Belleville Police Emergency Response Team had an early wake up call Friday morning to deal with an incident at a west end rooming house.
Officers were first called around 2:00 a.m. about a pair of noise complaints involving one of the roommates there, then were called a third time, after the man allegedly waved a knife and barricaded himself in his room.
The ERT and negotiators responded to the home and cleared out the other tenants, then entered the home after two hours of negotiations and took the man safely into custody around 4:15 a.m.
Thirty-four-year-old Shawn Allan Burriss has been charged with one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of breaching probation and was held for a bail show cause hearing Friday.
