Officials in Prince Edward County are preparing for the virtual Rural Ontario Municipalities Association conference next week.
A delegation led by Mayor Steve Ferguson will take part in various meetings to discuss the challenges faced by rural towns, with special attention being paid to a meeting with Ontario Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks, Jeff Yurek.
In a Thursday statement, Ferguson says he’s looking forward to continuing discussions on improving provincial park operations to help implement positive changes for both residents and visitors.
The mayor will also take part in a round table on “red tape reduction” saying in his statement he plans to bring up the “importance of giving small businesses and craft producers the flexibility to diversify their operations and pursue innovative ideas”.
