There is some great news for anyone looking to get out for a skate.
The City of Quinte West has decided to reopen the skating rinks in Batawa, with increased safety measures, starting on Friday (tomorrow).
The rinks will be open between 8:00 a.m and 8:00 p.m., weather permitting, with anyone planning to go out asked to check the Batawa Lions Club Facebook page before they leave.
Masks must be worn at all times and there is a maximum of 20 people allowed on a rink at any one time, with users being asked to limit their skating time to two hours.
While hockey sticks and pucks will be allowed on select rinks, organized games or scrimmages are prohibited.

- The rinks will be open daily from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. weather permitting. Check https://www.facebook.com/batawalionsclub for conditions
- Maximum 20 people on a rink surface at one time
- Masks must be worn at all times
- Please check the live web cameras at www.batawalionsclub.com before leaving your house to ensure rinks are not busy
- Please spread out and respect physical distancing at all times
- Hockey sticks and pucks are allowed on rinks one and three, but no organized games or scrimmages are permitted at any time
- Please limit your skating time to a maximum of two hours
- Do not move the benches or picnic tables
- Washrooms will be open. Only one person at a time in the washroom area (parents/guardians with children allowed)
- Volunteers and staff will be present at all times to monitor and clean facilities
- Failure to follow protocol will result in removal from the ice surface, and if needed, OPP enforcement
