The City of Belleville will be considering a recommendation from an ad-hoc committee (Candidate Review Committee) tasked with advising council on who should fill the vacant seat around the horse shoe.
At 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, City Council will have before them the name of Jennifer McTavish, who the committee has recommended to become Belleville Councillor.
Pat Culhane passed away late last year, meaning a vacancy is on council.
McTavish is the former Supervisor of Membership for the YMCA.
Belleville Council is also expected to hear from Councillor Garnet Thompson who is requesting Tyler Allsopp’s name come back up for discussion. Allsopp was first runner up in Belleville Ward in the last election.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk says he expects a Motion to Appoint McTavish as part of the meeting, but also anticipates lots of discussion.
The Committee is made up of seven voting members. Chair Councillor Kelly McCaw, Loyalist College President Dr Anne Marie Vaughn, former Belleville Police Chief Cory McKay, Doctor Julie Gawthorpe, Tracy Wright, Stacey Jennifer Love-Joliceur, and Sydney Jarvis.
