Executives from the Trenton Military Family Resource Centre are taking action on the lack of available healthcare for military families.
The MFRC is making an appeal to the Ministry of Health for a pilot program centred around the Victorian Order of Nurses that would support military family health care. The highlights include the setup of a trial clinic in Trenton with nurse practitioners and registered practical nurses.
Active military members qualify for healthcare through the Canadian Armed Forces but family members and veterans do not. According to the TMFRC, military families struggle when trying to find primary care for a variety of reasons including frequent relocation.
The MFRC will ask Brighton council for support of a non-financial nature at its meeting Monday.
