One member of Belleville Council says maybe he got it wrong.
Sean Kelly was on the Lorne Brooker Show Friday morning, where they discussed the council seat left vacant by the passing of the late Pat Culhane.
Kelly voted against having Tyler Allsopp, first runner up in Belleville Ward in the last election, fill the seat.
“I have learned, and I am okay to say, maybe I got it wrong this time.”
Councillor Kelly, along with colleagues Bill Sandison, Kelly McCaw, and Mayor Mitch Panciuk, voted against Tyler Allsopp, while Chris Malette, Ryan Williams, Garnet Thompson, and Paul Carr voted for the first runner up to get the seat.
Councillor Thompson says he will put forward a Notice of Motion at the next meeting, requesting the appointment of Allsopp go back up for discussion.
For that to happen, he needs five other members of council to vote with him.
Meantime, the committee tasked with recommending a new person for council, will submit their suggestion to council members over the coming days.
Councillor McCaw, who chairs the committee, tells Quinte News they are expecting to have a recommendation to Mayor Panciuk by Friday evening.
The committee still has not finalized whether that will be one, two, or three names.
The date of the special meeting and the names of the applicants are expected to be released in the coming days.
Council is expected to discuss the issue next week.
