MP Neil Ellis says he hears the cries from local chapters of community organizations for financial relief during the pandemic.
The YMCA, United Way and other social organizations in the Bay of Quinte say they’re struggling and are asking MP Ellis to establish a COVID-19 relief fund.
Ellis expressed his support, but says it’s not as simple as that.
“Decisions like this have to be made by cabinet through the financial impact. Something like this would need to be either policy implemented or money towards it in the next budget.”
He explained that getting more MPs involved to come together and push the message through to higher levels of government would be a good way to create action.
