Parents of high school aged students can now apply for the Ontario government’s Support for Learners program.
The program provides financial support to families to help offset additional education costs during the pandemic.
In the spring, the program offered a one-time payment for elementary students ages 12 and under and for special needs students up to 21 years old.
A second round was announced in last fall’s budget but still only included younger students and those with special needs.
Now the program is available to all students up to Grade 12.
Eligible families can receive $200 for each child or youth up to Grade 12 and $250 for each child or youth up to age 21 with special needs.
Since applications opened late last year for younger students, the Ministry of Education has received more than 1.4 million applications and processed more than $228 million in payments.
Applications are now open at https://www.ontario.ca/page/get-support-learners.
The deadline to apply is February 8, 2021.
