The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made an arrest in relation to multiple thefts of property and vehicles. ORIGINAL QUINTE NEWS STORY – CLICK HERE
At approximately 10:00 a.m. on December 28, 2020, Quinte West OPP responded to a complaint of a stolen pickup truck and ATV from a residence on Glen Ross Road in the City of Quinte West.
The vehicles were stolen sometime throughout the evening.
Multiple unlocked vehicles were also entered throughout the evening on Cooke Armstrong Road in Quinte West. Several items were stolen including a cross bow, CDs, money and tools.
On December 29, 2020, Belleville Police Service notified the Quinte West OPP that the pickup truck and ATV were located on Gordon Street in Belleville.
The pickup truck and ATV were processed by the OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) for evidence and subsequently returned to the owner.
On December 31, 2020, the Quinte West OPP was alerted of a suspicious vehicle on Trentside Lane in Quinte West. The vehicle was determined to be stolen from a Gordon Street location in the City of Belleville.
Officers located the stolen vehicle and arrested the suspect on Cooke Armstrong Road.
As a result of the investigation, Justin Golden, 37 years old of the City of Quinte West, has been charged with:
- Theft Under $5000 from a motor vehicle – two counts
- Theft Over $5000 of a motor vehicle – three counts
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Obstruct Peace Officer; and
- Fail to Comply with Probation – two counts
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on January 4, 2021.
