Stirling-Rawdon firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in Stirling in the area of the arena.
Just before 2 o’clock this morning (Saturday) firefighters were called to 260 and 254 West Front Street in weather that featured snow, ice pellets, and freezing rain.
A vacant former Esso service station and convenience store and the older two-storey wood frame house right next door were on fire.
Flames at the former gas station were put out quickly but flames continued to shoot through the roof of the house.
It’s believed no one was inside the house but that can’t be confirmed at this time.
Both Belleville and Centre Hastings fire departments provided air supply support at the scene.
Firefighters will be on the scene for some time today.
