The City of Quinte West has lost an icon.
Bob Wannamaker, a devout Christian, passed away today (Christmas Day) at the age of 80.
He served on Town of Trenton, City of Trenton, and City of Quinte West councils beginning in 1973 through to 2018.
He worked at Domtar in Trenton for 40 years.
He was a member of the Trenton Citizens Band for over 50 years and was the driver behind popular summertime concerts
at the amphitheatre in Centennial Park and brought big band concerts to the area, all with assistance from Pat Clark.
He was a longtime member of the Trenton Kiwanis Club and his six children are well known in the area as the musical group The Wannamaker Family.
His family describes him as a gentle, faithful, and hardworking man who lived for family, music and his community.
Mayor of Quinte West, Jim Harrison said Wannamaker was proud of his family and community. “He was always dependable, first at the table to say “I will get it done” and he
always did. In all the years I’ve worked with Bob I never heard a negative comment. He always turned a situation into a positive opportunity. He will be missed.”
