The mayor of Brighton is looking to the business and education sector to help keep residents safe.
In a post on Twitter Wednesday, Brian Ostrander indicated he only wants people in the area, who are from the area.
He said he messaged business and education leaders, asking them to restrict patrons and supply staff to those in the region.
“I guess I would eyeball the map and say Northumberland and Quinte, everything from Port Hope to Napanee so to speak. Our health unit area goes up into Kawartha Lakes and Lindsay as well, which encompasses a good deal of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board.”
The mayor says he recognizes that this is a difficult request, and that he is not blind to the fact that businesses are struggling.
He is asking community leaders to monitor where appointments, visits, and reservations are originating from, to keep the community safe.
