With 2020 in the rear view mirror, the Belleville Chamber of Commerce has hopes for growth in 2021.
The CEO for the Chamber, Jill Raycroft says their focus will be the work force.
“In November, our government affairs committee was finally able to put together an agenda that focused on advocacy needs that were not COVID related, for the first time in eight months. While the fear of another lockdown has everyone concerned and once again taken priority on our weekly calls with the Ontario Chamber network, we can look ahead to 2021 with hope. So many businesses had to reimagine their work, and for those who could not, it has made them more resilient and stronger.”
She tells Quinte news that unlike some chambers, their financial situation was not as dire.
“Across the board with the Canadian Chamber Network and the Ontario Chamber Network, we have certainly heard of some of our peers in this network that are struggling. When I say that we were really fortunate with doing some things in the past couple of years that set us up for success, one of them was our membership drive, which went from being monthly, to January.”
The focus she says for the new year will be making sure they support membership during the cloud of COVID, while focusing on the labour shortage in the area.
