An annual New Year’s Day tradition in Belleville is changing this year, due to the ongoing pandemic.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk has made the decision to cancel the annual New Year’s Levee because of ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and instead will offer a virtual state of the city address to reflect on 2020.
That video will be posted on the city’s YouTube page on January 1, 2021.
Panciuk says this year’s festivities will be different for everyone and is reminding everyone about the need to “remain vigilant and continue to reduce gathering sizes”.
In a press release Monday afternoon the mayor issued well wishes for the year ahead saying “May we enter 2021 with hope, strength and positivity.”
