UPDATE: As of Sunday, December 6 the on and off ramps have been reopened.
The Special Investigations Unit is now involved in the investigation into a car crash in Quinte West on Friday.
Quinte West OPP responded to the crash at approximately 11:30 p.m. December 4 near the Highway 401 westbound ramp at County Road 40 in Quinte West.
According to police there was a man lying on the roadway near the off ramp and a vehicle in a nearby ditch. The 35-year-old man was brought by Hastings-Quinte paramedics to a Kingston hospital with serious injuries. The westbound on and off ramps at County Road 40 remain closed for further investigation.
No other information is being released.
