Developers are hoping to build more housing next to existing new subdivisions in the north part of urban Belleville.
At Monday’s Planning Advisory Committee meeting, a public meeting will be held on a proposal to change the city’s Official Plan to allow a zoning change from commercial to residential for 8.5 hectares of land near the Settlers Ridge developments.
If approved, various kinds of housing could be built on the land. The development would be known as the “Towncentre Drive” project.
The proponents say since there is no frontage on Highway 62 the property is of limited commercial use and better suited to residential.
No decision will be made on Monday but the public will be allowed to comment.
