The holiday shopping season is heading into full swing and so is an annual program that helps thousands of students in the Quinte region.
Beginning tomorrow (Tuesday) the Feed the Meter program begins in the downtowns of Belleville, Trenton, and Picton.
Parking will be free in each downtown all of December but people are encouraged to put coins into the meters anyway as the money collected will be used to provide nutritious breakfasts and snacks in local schools.
The Hastings Prince Edward Learning Foundation says every day about 4,000 students come to school hungry.
Last holiday season Feed the Meter in the three downtowns raised around $35,000.
