The mayor of Centre Hastings is optimistic about provincial approval for a long term care facility in his community.
Mayor Tom Deline told a virtual meeting of Hastings County council on Thursday that the province has recently announced 29 long term care projects, two brand new and the rest rebuilds.
In an interview with Quinte News, Deline said Centre Hastings has a six-acre site zoned and serviced for a 128-bed facility, and has a company ready to go.
He emphasized, “If the company gets approval to build and approvals for the drawings for a new home, the municipality is prepared to issue a building permit within 30 days.”
“A 128 bed Long Term Care facility, seniors’ assisted care facility, if that should happen down the road, and perhaps senior retirement area as well.”
Deline added that, “Fifty percent of the municipality’s population is seniors” and he adds “All we can do is keep our fingers crossed.”
