Belleville Festival of Lights Holiday Drive-Through Experience
The Belleville Festival of Lights has officially launched for its 2020 season.
The Festival will run throughout the holiday season until January 4 and features a new route along the waterfront. This year’s event has pivoted to a “holiday drive-through experience.” Residents are able to enjoy the lighting displays from the comfort of their vehicles as they travel through the festival route and along the Bay of Quinte.
Displays are featured at Victoria Park, Driscoll Parkette, Jane Forrester Park, Kiwanis Bayshore Park, Rotary Fitness Park and Downtown Belleville, and are all accessible by car. In keeping with current safety guidelines, anyone planning to walk the route on foot is reminded to practice physical distancing at all times and to wear a mask when possible. A map of the route and more information on the Festival of Lights is available at: Belleville.ca/FestivalofLights.
Visitors can travel the festival route and then head downtown for the Downtown District’s Enchanted event, complete with local shopping, dining and selfies in the giant Santa Chair. The Downtown District will also offer free pedicab rides along the main street and Meyer’s Pier route. More information on Enchanted and how to book a free pedicab ride is available at: DowntownBelleville.ca/Enchanted.
“We are so pleased to be able to offer this exciting, new, COVID-19 compliant twist on our annual event,” said Lighting Display and Gateway Signage Committee Chair Annis Ross. “We know how important it is for residents to have the opportunity to experience the joy and wonder of this display, this year in particular. It has been a difficult year and we hope this event will bring a little holiday cheer to everyone. Thank you to all of our community partners for their incredible donations. We hope everyone enjoys these changes and has a chance to tour the new route!”
