Two people from Kingston have been charged in connection to a drug smuggling incident at the Quinte Region Detention Centre.
Lennox and Addington OPP were contacted in late October about a drop of contraband within the facility.
Correctional Service of Canada staff seized a quantity of illicit drugs, but believe some items did make it to inmates.
OPP, along with the East Region Community Street Crime Unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit and Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a home on McDonald Avenue in Kingston where they seized illegal drugs, cash, a drone and ammunition.
Andrew Ubdergrove, 23, of Kingston is facing charges of:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – four counts
- Possession of a Schedule 4 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
- Traffic in a Schedule 1 substance
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
- Possession of property obtained by crime – two counts
Keisha Halladay, 23, of Kingston has been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
- Possession of a Schedule 4 substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime
Both have been released and will appear in Napanee court on January 12, 2020.
