The online application process for funding from United Way Hastings & Prince Edward has officially opened. Funds raised through the annual campaign will be allocated back out to the not-for-profit charitable sector in our community.
United Way Hastings & Prince Edward has three priority areas; All that Kids Can Be, From Poverty to Possibility and Strong Communities. They are inviting applications from charitable organizations who provide programs to residents of Hastings & Prince Edward within one or more of the three priority areas.
Each of these priorities is part of a larger strategy known as Community Impact (CI). Community Impact can be defined as making fundamental changes to community conditions, which includes, but is not limited to allocating funds through the annual fundraising campaign. Ultimately, it is about people and organizations coming together to create lasting, measurable change.
According to Brandi Hodge, Executive Director, “All social service organizations wishing to apply for funding are encouraged to do so. These organizations include all not-for-profit, charitable organizations which meet the eligibility criteria.” Hodge stressed that organizations are not required to have had a prior relationship with United Way in order to apply. “This process is open to all eligible organizations. We know the needs are rising and the landscape is changing rapidly – and our hope is that we will be in a position to help as many people in our community as possible by funding organizations that are meeting the most pressing needs,” encouraged Hodge.
Eligibility for United Way of Quinte funding includes, but is not limited to, the following.
- The agency must align with United Way Hastings & Prince Edward’s Impact Strategy and,
- The agency provides services to residents of Hastings County and/or Prince Edward County and,
- A volunteer Board of Directors governs the agency and,
- The agency provides audited annual financial statement and,
- The agency must be an organization that is a qualified donee under Canada Revenue Agency.
All Requests for Investments that are completed and submitted on time will be reviewed by a citizen review committee. Hodge explains, “Citizen Review teams (community volunteers) review funding applications and evaluate submissions using a scoring matrix—ultimately community members make funding recommendations to the Board of Directors of United Way HPE.”
Requests for Investment must be completed and submitted by way of an online software application by December 11th, 2020, 4:30 EST.
