Belleville Police have determined that alcohol was a factor in an accident on Scuttlehole Road in Thurlow Township early Friday morning.
Police say the vehicle left the roadway and slammed into numerous trees causing the victim to be trapped in the vehicle. Belleville Fire attended the scene as the driver needed to be extricated from the wreckage.
The investigation revealed that the male driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed approximately six hours earlier without anyone around to notice.
The driver, a 19-year-old Plainfield resident, was transported to Belleville General Hospital via EMS with serious injuries and was transferred to Kingston General Hospital.
Belleville Police Traffic Management Unit was called in to take over the collision investigation and Scuttlehole Road was closed to traffic for a few hours.
Impaired driving charges are possibly pending as the investigation is ongoing.
