Much like the Provincial Government did recently, the Federal Government is committing a chunk of money towards improving broadband internet services, for rural parts of the country.
Bay of Quinte MP Neil Ellis announced today that the Feds will provide $1.75 billion to rural areas through the Universal Broadband Fund.
There were no specifics about how much money will be coming locally, but Ellis says too many residents of Bay of Quinte lack access to reliable high-speed internet which “has a dramatic impact on quality of life”.
He says the Liberal Government recognizes the need to connect every home and business to reliable internet, which is why it has increased the UBF to connect more than 1.7 million Canadians to better, faster, internet.
