It will be a strange sight to be seen, but you won’t be hallucinating.
On Sunday, part of Sidney Street will be closed to all traffic as Habitat for Humanity Prince Edward-Hastings moves a house.
Executive Director Glenn May-Anderson told Quinte News he isn’t sure how long the street will be closed in both directions, but expects it will take at least a few hours to move the house from 664 Sidney Street to its new location at 628 Sidney Street.
May-Anderson says the home is the only one at that location and has been abandoned for a number of years now.
He says there is a family in mind for the home once it rests on its new foundation.
Belleville Mayor Mitch Panciuk is expected to drop the flag to start the physical move of the home.
This is the first time Prince Edward-Hastings Habitat for Humanity has moved a home, but it is not a first for Habitat for Humanity.
May-Anderson says by doing this, it is a fraction of the cost to build the home for the family that will eventually reside in the home.
People can expect parts of Sidney Street to be closed on Sunday and traffic delays in the area.
