It has over a century of history and faith in the City of Belleville, but Victoria Avenue Baptist Church has been sold.
Quinte News has learned that the church has been sold to Belleville company Beleden.
Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
Beleden spokesperson Mark Vreugenhil says the 9,000 square foot building will be used as commercial space that will soon be available for rent.

He adds that downstairs will be workable office space, while the main church floor of the building will require a unique tenant. Vreugenhil added that a retrofit may be needed, however that will be done once a tenant is found. An art studio, event space, or possible creative local are options Vreugenhil sees for the main floor.
The congregation at Victoria Avenue Baptist has been a staple in the City of Belleville since 1906. They have since amalgamated with Emmanuel Baptist Church in east end Belleville at Rollins Drive and Victoria Avenue. They are now known as Eastside Community Baptist Church.
The municipality has most recently been using the space as the Warming Centre for residents during cold evenings.
